Terry Marshall has over 40 years experience working in various areas of the piping industry. He began in Kamloops, BC with the local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters union as a laborer laying pipe in 1970 then moved to Vancouver Island in 1972 to apprentice in Nanaimo with R & A Smith Plumbing & Heating. During his apprenticeship he worked on projects such as the Nanaimo Sewage Treatment Plant, Bowen Sports Complex and Kiwanis Lodge.
Upon completion of his apprenticeship in 1978, he moved to Alberta where he gained experience in new residential construction, commercial gas, and chemical plant expansions. He returned to BC in 1980 where he continued to work with the union in pulp mills and chemical plants throughout BC. About this time he interest in sailing and scuba diving grew and he bought a sailboat, which became his home.
He met Rose and together they worked towards a lifetime dream.... and in 1988, the dream became a reality when they sailed their "home" to Mexico. For 3 years they wintered in Mexico and worked summers in BC, sailing back via Hawaii and Alaska.
They decided to settle in Nanaimo in 1991 where Terry pursued his second dream – opening his own business. Terry Marshall Plumbing & Heating Services started with one truck and Terry plumbing custom homes and specializing in in-floor heating. As the business grew Terry hired and trained trade apprentices.
In 2002 he decided to incorporate as the company had grown to 5 trucks, supported 6 families and provided quality service to customers from Ladysmith to Qualicum Beach.
He believes Marshall Plumbing's growth and success will continue because its focus on providing five-star customer service ensures client satisfaction and loyalty.
